Allie Clark

Allie Clark

Alfred Aloysius "Allie" Clark (June 16, 1923 in South Amboy, New Jersey) was a professional Baseball player playing most notably for the New York Yankees. He made his pro debut on August 5, 1947 with the Yankees and played his final game on June 5, 1953 with the Philadelphia Athletics. He is also the answer to the trivia question, Who was the last person to wear the number 3 for the New York Yankees, as he wore it in 1947. He moved onto the Cleveland Indians in 1948 and the Yankees retired the number for Babe Ruth that same year.

Prior to starting his career with the New York Yankees, Allie Clark quit high school just short of his graduation to enlist in the military for the war effort. In 2000, Clark was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at St. Mary High School, in South Amboy. During the research stage for the hall of fame it was recognized that Clark never received his diploma, with some help from various individuals, Clark was awarded his diploma on June 9, 2001, by St. Mary Regional High School.fact|date=December 2007
