Affairs

Video recordings affair

In the early 1990s he was involved in a sex scandal when some home-made recordings were found in videotapes showing him having sexual intercourse with different younger women. Since then he gained huge notoriety. The infamous recordings with hardcore sexual content were made available in VHS tapes that spread to the general public and later on peer-to-peer networks.

Famous remarks on the subject, extracted from the videos, included "Está todo lá dentro" (It's all inside), "Uicabom" ("OhSogood"), "...a menina da Kookai" ("Kookai's girl"), "Queres óleo" (Do you need some moisture) and "Vamos comer a Fatinha" (Let's "eat" Miss Fatima). They were widely parodied in Portugal by all sort of ordinary people, particularly teenagers and young adults at the time.

Ph.D. thesis/dissertations affair

Taveira was a professor at the architecture department of the Technical University of Lisbon until 2003 when he was expelled due to a disciplinary process related with capricious wrongdoing by refusing to approve Ph.D. thesis/dissertations.
