Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, Inc. operates bookstores at more than 600 U.S. colleges and universities. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers is not a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble, Inc., although Barnes & Noble chairman Leonard S. Riggio owns a controlling interest in the company and is its chairman. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers is headquartered in Basking Ridge, NJ. The company controls the Barnes & Noble trademarks, which are licensed without charge to the publicly traded chain.

Barnes & Noble College Booksellers also operates the self-proclaimed "world's largest bookstore", located on Fifth Avenue and 18th Street in New York City. This flagship store carries a large variety of textbooks, medical books, and medical supplies in addition to the various trade titles carried at Barnes & Noble, Inc. stores.

Barnes & Noble college bookstores do accept Barnes & Noble gift cards and stored-value cards.
