Queen's Lawn

Queen's Lawn

The Queen's Lawn is a green area situated at the centre of Imperial College London South Kensington campus, right next to the Queen's Tower. It provides an open space of 1600 sq metres for holding conferences [http://www.imperial.ac.uk/conferences/index.asp?page_id=330] .

In April 2006, the Imperial College student newspaper Felix reported that the college was seeking permission of the Westminster City Council to develop part of the lawn into a three-storey modular building. While the council's decision is still pending, this idea was reported to have attracted widespread opposition among students ("a stream of protests").

Nevertheless the college is currently hiring it out as a "bargain" conference space [http://www.imperial.ac.uk/conferences/index.asp?page_id=330] .
