History

Due to its strategic importance the Southers and the Norts are fighting over the planet. This perpetual war has seen the use of just about every weapon of mass destruction, which made the planet toxic. Most life forms became extinct or mutated, and all inhabitants must wear protective chem-suits at all times. Because of this the Souther scientists were instructed to start the G.I. program to create a supersoldier immune to all those dangers.

The planet was originally called Nu-Earth because it was an Earth-like paradise before the war started. Many of its place names have the prefix 'Nu-', i.e. Nu-Atlanta.

The war ultimately comes to an end, with life once again returning to Nu Earth, where now endless fields of gravestones cover the horizon; commemorating the war.

Important locations

Fort Neuropa

A Souther fort completely isolated since the beginning of the war, its garrison developed bizarre customs based on historical movies.

Quartz Zone

With the landscape turned into crystals by early battles, it provided a beautiful and deadly backdrop to the Quartz Massacre which saw the destruction of nearly all G.I.s. in an ambush. The landscape is littered with the remains of countless G.I. dropods, weapons and other military gear.

Scum Seas

The heavily polluted seas. The Nort Scum legions and Scum Marines were named after them: see Norts: Military. Numerous graveyards of derelict ships are to found here, as well as a variety of mutated sea creatures. To enter the waters without a protective suit is to invite death, and even with one a soldier can only survive here for a short time before the toxic waters burn through their suit.

The DIX-I Front

A stretch of territory encompassing a large peninsula, surrounded on either side by the Western and Orange (scum) seas, and bordering Greater Nortland. Its capital was Nu-Atlanta,and was formerly under Souther control, but was lost to Nort forces after a massed assault on the region during an apparent temporary lull in the fighting. Areas of interest include: the town of Mephizz; where the natural geysers once blew away the poisonous chem clouds, though during the course of Rogue's journey this area too was poisoned, the Oxark mountain range, also being area once free of the chem clouds and home to a friendly tribe, though ultimately this region too was sullied and Harpo's Ferry (a parody of Harper's Ferry), where the Souther's made their last stand against the superior Nort armoured divisions, whilst making a mass exodus across the Western (scum) sea into Araby.

The Polar Region

Here a constant battle is fought between the Nort and Souther forces as like most everywhere else on Nu Earth. In instances the temperatures are so cold as to freeze any man who remains still for too long. Filled with endless trench lines and with a landscape marked by the Future War, it is an extremely hazardous place. Rogue was informed by the Body Looters (Bland and Brass) of the Traitor's presence in this zone, where he was using a master chip to control the robots in the area, killing the men garrisoned there. Rogue manages to get evidence from the traitor to clear his name and stop his Plans, the Traitor attempts to escape but is shot down by Souther Forces. Shortly after, large numbers of Nort and Souther forces arrive to recapture the trenches.
