Located between Beit Shemesh and Jerusalem, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mateh Yehuda Regional Council. In 2006 it had a population of 414.

The village was established on 18 October 1950 by immigrants from Yemen and was named after Simon Bar Giora. Initially a work camp named Eitanim, it became a moshav in 1954.
