Yttrium(III) chloride (YCl₃) is an ionic compound of yttrium and chlorine. It is a salt that is solid at room temperature, highly soluble in water, and deliquescent. YCl₃ in the solid state has a crystal structure with cubic close packed chloride ions and yttrium ions filling one third of the octahedral holes and the resulting YCl₆ octahedra sharing three edges with adjacent octahedra give a layer structure.
