R. Phillip Haire

Robert Phillip Haire is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's one hundred nineteenth House district, including constituents in Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain counties. An attorney from Sylva, North Carolina, Haire is currently (2003-2004 session) serving in his third term in the state House, where he holds the position of Democratic Whip.

Mr Haire was interviewed by Stephen Colbert for Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" the interview aired March 15, 2007.

Rep. Haire majored in history at the highly regarded University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Phil has three sons named Phillip, Scott, and Tate, and one daughter through marriage, Anne Collins. He currently resides in Western North Carolina with his lovely wife Connie Haire and has two small dogs. He has a grandson, Tyler Haire, attending Davidson College. Tyler's brother, Evan Haire attends the prestigious Asheville School.
