Huaining County

Huaining County (怀宁县) is a county in Anhui under the jurisdiction of Anqing City. Its population is 790,000 and its area is 1543 square kilometers. The government of Huaining County is located in Gaohe Town (Moved from Shipai Town on Jan. 18th, 2002).

Huaining County has jurisdiction over 16 towns and 7 townships.

As the former capital of Anhui Province, there are always standouts born in Huaining. Jiaxian Deng, the founder of Chinese A-bomb and guided missile, and Duxiu Chen, the first Secretary General of CPC, top the contemporary list.

Culture

Huaining County is also famous with the Huangmeixi Opera, which is one of the source of Beijing Opera.
