Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law

Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law

Graduate Diploma in English and Hong Kong Law (GDEHKL) is a programme that allows non-law students to 'convert' to law subsequent to their undergraduate qualification. The programme itself is a localised mutation of the Common Professional Examination of England and Wales (CPE), also known as Graduate Diploma in Law, and is currently jointly offered by University of Hong Kong's School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) as course operator and Manchester Metropolitan University as the qualification awarding institution. The completion of the course qualifies students to take the C.P.E. examinations.

The qualification substantially satisfies the requirements for entry to the Hong Kong Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (P.C.LL.) for those that intend to practice in Hong Kong, and for the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and the English Bar Vocational Course for those that intend to practice in England and Wales. To be completely qualified for entry to the Hong Kong Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (P.C.LL.), students must also complete 2 short special introductory courses in Evidence and Business Associations.
