The City of London Academy is the name given to four city academies established in inner London with the support of the Corporation of London. The academies are in the London boroughs of Camden, Southwark, Islington and Hackney. All four have specialist status in Business and Enterprise.

The City of London Academy (51°31′01″N 0°07′13″W / 51.517047°N 0.120184°W / 51.517047; -0.120184Coordinates: 51°31′01″N 0°07′13″W / 51.517047°N 0.120184°W / 51.517047; -0.120184) is at the forefront of innovation in the provision of business and professional education within the United Kingdom’s private educational sector. The Academy aims to offer university-related programmes that will be recognised globally. It will ensure that diligent students succeed in their studies and, more importantly, in their career development by helping them to obtain the skills, competencies and abilities that are the requisites in today’s challenging business world.

The City of London Academy, Southwark (51°29′21″N 0°03′53″W / 51.4893°N 0.0648°W / 51.4893; -0.0648Coordinates: 51°29′21″N 0°03′53″W / 51.4893°N 0.0648°W / 51.4893; -0.0648) is sponsored by the City of London Corporation.

The building was designed by Studio E Architects and built by Willmott Dixon.

The school has seven years including the sixth form (Years 7,8,9,10 & 11 as well as two years of sixth form).

The Academy now has two year groups studying their GCSEs. 2007 marked the first year in which every year group had students however the school will not be full until 2009 as currently the 6th forms only have around 30 students per year. By 2009 there will be 150 in each year with the majority of those places filled by the Academy's current year 10 & 11's.

The non-curricular subject Business Studies is also taught here, which teaches young pupils how to become entrepreneurs in the making. The building features a wide array of computers.

Students at The City of London Academy purchase their lunches using a credit card-like ID card, which is topped up using special machines.

Catchment area All students living in the City of London are eligible to attend the school. See [1] for a detailed catchment map. Some students can board the city bus to the school if they live outside the area.

School uniform The school requires a school uniform. Uniforms include purple blazers, grey jumpers, white shirts and grey trousers. The tie worn is coloured purple, white and red, with diagonal stripes. The prefects are entitled to wear plain purple ties with the academy logos. In the summer, many girls wear a purple checked summer dress. This is because The City of London Academy know that the normal school uniform can be a bit too hot.

City of London Academy, Islington

The City of London Academy, Islington (51°32′10″N 0°05′52″W / 51.5360°N 0.0978°W / 51.5360; -0.0978) opened in September 2008. It is jointly sponsored by the City of London Corporation and City University London.

The Academy is a mixed, selective Academy, with no religious affiliation, committed to providing excellence in education and opportunities for all. The Academy promotes excellence in the areas of critical thinking, creativity, leadership and Business and Enterprise.

The school uniform are, maroon blazers, grey jumpers, and grey trousers/skirts. the logo also includes two griffins.

City of London KPMG Academy, Hackney

The City of London KPMG Academy opened in September 2009, The Academy opened with 210 eleven year olds, with the school filling up year by year. Eventually it will cater for 900 11 – 16 year olds and 240 students in its sixth form.

The Academy has a specialism in business and financial services but includes the full range of subjects that are found in any state school, and is a mixed non-denominational school.

The Academy's sponsors are the Corporation of London and KPMG.The academy was said to be an "outstainding school" giving by the ofsted 1n 2009
