Ruth Badger

Ruth Badger (born 1978 in Wolverhampton) is a British businesswoman, best known as the runner-up in the second series of the UK version of "The Apprentice" [" [http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/175072004.htm Female First] ". Biography

Badger was educated at Wodensfield Primary School in Wednesfield [" [http://www.bbc.co.uk/apprentice/candidates/ruth.shtml "The Apprentice" - Ruth Badger's Profile] ", BBC Apprentice website. URL last accessed 03 February, 2007.] and then at Our Lady & St Chad RC leaving in 1995 with 3 GCSEs. She then worked at her local Jobcentre, then became a civil servant. During this period she also worked as a barmaid at several pubs in Wolverhampton and as a steward at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club where she allegedly dated several of the players, including Neil Emblem and John de Wolf.Fact|date=September 2008 After several years as a civil servant, she started working in the finance industry, earning "top employee" awards with one company before becoming a sales manager at a company near Manchester.

"The Apprentice"

Prior to appearing on "The Apprentice", Ruth Badger worked as a senior management executive for Compass Finance.

Badger excelled in many of the task challenges, most notably the car sales in week six and the flat letting in week nine. She was brought into the boardroom on four occasions and had altercations with fellow contestant Mani Sandher in week five and Syed Ahmed in week ten.

During the airing of "The Apprentice" Badger came to the attention of the British press. Badger appeared on "The Apprentice" spin-off show "" on 27th May 2008 following Michael Sophocles.

Badger has many 'celebrity' fans including Phil Neville, Timmy Mallett, former Worcestershire Cricketer Tim Curtis and sibling pop duo Journey South of X Factor fame, who said after meeting Ruth at their mini gig at Tesco in Hull on 28 October 2007, that when they're not performing they like "nothing more than eating a Chinese and watching 'Badger or Bust'".

National Television Awards nomination

Badger was nominated for a National Television Award, for which she competed against fellow "The Apprentice" contestant Syed Ahmed and "Big Brother" housemate Nikki Grahame, amongst others. Badger featured on "The Big Idea", which gave "budding entrepreneurs" the chance to showcase their inventions for the nation. Viewers and a studio audience eventually chose a winner who was given a £100,000 investment to build and market their idea.

"Badger or Bust"

Badger was the star of her own show, "Badger or Bust", on Sky One which started on May 8 2007 and finished in Autumn 2007. In this show Badger uses her sales expertise to help failing business.
