Hioki District, Kagoshima

Hioki (日置郡; -gun) was a district located in Kagoshima, Japan. As of the merger of the town of Kinpou into the city of Minamisatsuma the district no longer exists.

As of July 1, 2005, the district had an estimated population of 7,927 and the density of 109.72 persons per km². The total area was 72.25 km².

District Timeline

* October 1, 1950-The town of Kushikino gained city status.
* November 1, 2004-The towns of Kooriyama and Matsumoto merged into the expanded city of Kagoshima.
* May 1, 2005-The towns of Fukiage, Higashiichiki, Hiyoshi, and Ijuuin merged forming the city of Hioki.
* On October 11, 2005-The town of Ichiki merged with the city of Kushikino forming the city of Ichikikushikino.
* On November 7, 2005-The town of Kinpou merged with the city of Kaseda and three towns from Kawanabe District forming the city of Minamisatsuma.
