Kostroma ( _ru. Кострома́) is a river in Kostroma and Yaroslavl Oblasts in Russia, left tributary of the Volga. The length of the river is km to mi|354. The area of its drainage basin is km2 to mi2|16000|precision=-2. The Kostroma freezes up in November and breaks up in April — early May. The city of Kostroma is located at the confluence of the Kostroma and Volga Rivers.
