Lieutenant Governor of Utah

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor in Utah was created in 1976. There have only been six Lieutenant Governors in Utah's history. Prior to the creation of the Lieutenant Governor's office, the succession to the Governorship of Utah was held by the Utah Secretary of State. The office of Utah's Secretary of State was abolished by the legislature in 1976 and those duties given to the newly created Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
