Fictional character biography

Early life

Little is known of the childhood of Suzy Sherman apart from that she was raised in California by her father Toby Sherman, and her mother.

In her teen years, Suzy was a struggling model in Southern California. Since she was rapidly developing muscles, the agencies thought she was too "buff" to be a model. On an audition, Suzy was suddenly attacked by a Sentinel, a left-over minion from Onslaught's assault on humanity"Ultra Girl" #1] .

The Sentinel implied that she was actually a mutant Kree warrior, though her exact origins are still unclear today. Reporters who saw the fight between Suzy and the Sentinel ran to interview her. During the interview she kept using the term "Ultra", which led to the press dubbing her "Ultra Girl". Suzy began to receive endorsements and deduced that being Ultra Girl was her ticket to stardom, so she and her friends designed a costume from sports apparel she had received from past modeling jobs. One of Suzy's friends, Amber, tried to convince her to abandon the superhero idea, but Ultra Girl was set on it, even fighting against the villain, Effex, alongside the New Warriors"Ultra Girl" #2] . Together the Warriors and Ultra Girl defeated Effex"Ultra Girl" #3] .

After a mission with the Warriors, Ultra Girl learned that Amber was in fact "Ambra", a Kree agent sent to Earth to observe her; that her real name was Tsu-Zana; and also discovered that her friend Amber and several other locals were secretly Kree who expected her to serve as a Kree messiah. Ambra also informed Suzy that many of her friends (even her childhood doctor) were Kree. It was said in the Kree writings that Tsu-Zana was to be the Ultimate Unifier, so she could eventually restore glory to the Kree Empire. They asked her to abandon her superhero career, as to not draw attention to the Kree. Sometime later, Ultra Girl and Slapstick joined the New Warriors in stopping a Badoon invasion; in which both were made members of the Warriors afterwards [As revealed within "Avengers: The Initiative" #10] .

Civil War

The honor of working with the New Warriors is now haunting her, as the Warriors are blamed for an explosion in Stamford which caused the death of hundreds of people, including children. Ultra Girl is one of the New Warriors whose civilian identities were publicly outed on an Anti-New Warriors website. Teaming with the remaining Warriors and She-Hulk, they shut down the website and discovered it was in fact run by former Warrior, Hindsight [She-Hulk vol. 2 #8]

Ultra-Girl was a member of Captain America's Secret Avengers in the recent Civil War among superheroes ["Civil War" #5] . She was seen among the super-heroes rescuing Captain America during Tony Stark and Steve Rogers's private meeting to make one more attempt at settling their differences ["Iron Man" vol. 4 #14] . After the end of the war, she decided to comply with the Superhuman Registration Act. ["Civil War Battle Damage Report"]

The Initiative

Ultra Girl is now part of the . Sherman is seen on the bus of registered trainees headed for Stamford [ #1] . [ [http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.947 Avengers: The Initiative #1 Character Map] ] Ultra Girl is injured while fighting the forces of HYDRA ["Avengers: The Initiative" #2] . She later accompanies Rage, Hardball, Cloud 9, Komodo, Triathlon, Thor Girl, and Slapstick to fight the Hulk ["Avengers: The Initiative" #4] . It has also been revealed that she and Justice have started a relationship ["Avengers: The Initiative" #6] .
After the appearance of the "new" New Warriors, Ultra Girl was appointed as director of the Junior Guardsmen, a youth branch of the Initiative, akin to the JROTC program.

When the other former New Warriors decided to quit the Initiative, Ultra Girl instead returned to Camp Hammond. With her Initiative training complete, she and Thor Girl were assigned to Georgia, with Ultra Girl wearing a new costume, which is visually similar to Ms. Marvel's original outfit. ["Avengers: The Initiative" #12]

Powers and abilities

Ultra Girl is superhumanly strong, capable of lifting several tons, and is highly resistant to physical injury. She is also superhumanly fast, and can move at velocities approaching the speed of sound, and she heals at an accelerated rate. Ultra Girl can also fly at great speeds. Ultra Girl can alter her vision to see in other wavelengths of energy (besides visible light), such as infrared and ultraviolet. Her powers have vaguely activated in relation to what's been required for the situation, but it is unknown if this is a case of reactive evolution, or simply a process of discovery.
