Wherrytown

Wherrytown

Wherrytown is a settlement in Cornwall, UK situated between Penzance and Newlyn. The village was largely destroyed in the Ash Wednesday storm of 7th March 1962. Only the former village pub remains from the original structures within the village; it is now an Indian restaurant. Wherrytown was also the site of a sub-marine mine known as 'Wheal Wherry' which was mined between 1778 to 1798 (when the access was destroyed by a runaway ship) and again from 1836 to 1840. cite journal
