The Grammy Award for Best Inspirational Performance was awarded from 1962 to 1986. During this time the award had several minor name changes:

*From 1964 to 1966 it was awarded as Best Gospel or Other Religious Recording (Musical)
*In 1967 it was awarded as Best Sacred Performance (Musical)
*From 1968 to 1969 it was awarded as Best Sacred Performance
*In 1970 it was awarded as Best Sacred Performance (Non-Classical)
*In 1971 it returned to being awarded as Best Sacred Performance (Musical)
*In 1972 it was awarded as Best Sacred Performance
*From 1973 to 1974 it was awarded as Best Inspirational Performance
*In 1975 it was awarded as Best Inspirational Performance (Non-Classical)
*From 1976 to 1986 it was again awarded as Best Inspirational Performance
