Narcisse, Manitoba

Narcisse, Manitoba

Narcisse, Manitoba is a rural hamlet in the Rural Municipality of Armstrong, in the Interlake region (50°41′00″N 97°31′47″W / 50.6833333°N 97.52972°W / 50.6833333; -97.52972), in the province of Manitoba. It was originally settled in 1914, two years after the arrival of the now defunct Canadian Northern Railway. The railway tracks were removed in the 1990s. Narcisse lost its village status in 2004 when the local general store ( Stogrin's Country Store) closed due to lack of business.

Narcisse was named after Narcisse Leven, then the president of the Jewish Colonization Association (JCA or ICA), by the residents of Bender Hamlet, a Jewish farm colony located 2 km east of Narcisse.
