South Lantau Road

South Lantau Road

South Lantau Road (zh-tspcy|t=嶼南道|s=屿南道|p=Yǔnán Dào|cy=yu4 naam4 dou6) is a road on the southern side of Lantau Island in Hong Kong. Being the major road on the island, the road connects Mui Wo in the east to Shek Pik in the west. Majority portion of the road is along the southern shore of the island. It is passing through Nam Shan, Pui O, San Shek Wan, Cheung Sha, Tong Fuk and Shui Hau.

Before the completion of Lantau Link and Tung Chung Line of MTR on the north shore of the island, the road kept busy carrying urban dwellers from Mui Wo to other leisure destinations during holidays. Beaches and holiday camps and houses spread along the road, especially in Cheung Sha, Pui O and Tong Fuk.

While serving island south, it meets Tung Chung Road, the only access from island north, at Cheung Sha. It is extended west to fishing harbour and village town of Tai O by Keung Shan Road and Tai O Road at Shek Pik Reservoir.

The road meets the longest hiking trail Lantau Trail on the island at Mui Wo, Nam Shan, Pui O, Shui Hau and Shek Pik.
