"Live at the Crystal Palace" (alternatively referred to as "Live from the Crystal Palace") [ [http://www.wirenh.com/Music/Music_-_general/many_musicians_make_a_great_Cake_200604261230.html Many musicians make a great Cake] . 26 April 2006. "The Wire" (New Hampshire).] will be the first live album (seventh album overall) from the Sacramento, California-based band Cake. It is expected to be released in 2008 (after being pushed back from 2006), but most details are unknown at this point.

In a 2001 interview, John McCrea discussed his admiration for the Crystal Palace venue: "I like to play live, but I don't like touring for extended periods of time. We'd prefer to do what Buck Owens does: he has this place called the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, and everybody comes to visit him, and he plays every Friday and Saturday night. That's our goal, but for now we have to travel." [cite web|url=http://onstagemag.com/ar/performance_let_cake/|title=Let Them Be Cake|date=2001-12-01|accessdate=2006-11-04]

On November 2 2006, the band announced that the album would be delayed to 2007 "due to Cake's strict quality control enforcement." [cite web|url=http://cakemusic.com/news.html|title=cakemusic.com NEWS|date=2006-11-02|accessdate=2006-11-04] Failed verification|date=March 2008

One track from the album, "Mexico", was made available as a free download to members of Cake's mailing list in August 2006.

Although "Live at the Crystal Palace" was announced several months before Cake's "B-Sides and Rarities" album, "Rarities" has already been released while little is currently known about the status of "Live at the Crystal Palace".
