The United Road Transport Union (URTU) is a trade union in the United Kingdom. It has a membership of over 17,000 and represents road haulage drivers.

The URTU was first registered as the United Carters Association, and was subsequently named the United Carters Association of England, the United Carters and Motormen’s Association of England, and the United Road Transport Workers Association of England before assuming its current name in 1964.

The URTU is affiliated with the Trades Union Congress. The URTU now represents workers throughout the UK Logistics Sector involved in Warehousing, Driving and general distribution.

The Union has just been successful in obtaining Government Funding for 2 years for Modernisation and for Union Learning. The Union Learning Fund Project is headed up by Barry Faulkner the ULF National Project Manager working with Hans Cheshire and Graham Cooper as Project workers

URTU was also successful in obtaining funds from the Union Modernisation Fund in order to offer Officer Training, Equip the mobile office facility with IT, create a new website and vastly improve the standard of IT used in the Union. This will help URTU to stand alongside other larger Unions on a much more level playing field. The Modernisation Fund Steering Group consists of Alan Irwin the URTU's Education Advisor, Bob Monks the General Secretary, Barry Faulkner the Manager of the ULF Project and designated Trade Union Tutor for URTU, Malcolm Williams Regional Officer and Matthew Marsden IT Consultant. This team will steer through the various changes within URTU over the next 2 years. The ULF Project is now considering progressing bids in Wales and Scotland.
