Koloth, played by William Campbell, is a Klingon character in the fictional "Star Trek" universe who appears in the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles", the animated series episode "More Tribbles, More Troubles", and the "" episode "Blood Oath".

Overview

As the captain of the Klingon vessel, IKS "Gr'oth", Koloth faces James T. Kirk at spacestation K-7 during the 2268 Sherman's Planet affair depicted in "The Trouble with Tribbles". According to Jadzia Dax in the "Deep Space Nine" episode "Trials and Tribble-ations", Koloth always regretted never facing Kirk in battle. Koloth once defeated T'nag and his army with only colleagues Kang and Kor, according to Kor's tale 2372 in the "Deep Space Nine" episode "Once More Unto the Breach", later feasting on the leader's heart; he personally attacked T'nag's flank with only a disruptor and a bat'leth, killing two dozen men out of vengeance.

According to Jadzia Dax in "Blood Oath", Curzon Dax called him "D'akturak" - "ice man" - for his toughness in negotiating when they squared off against each other.

A Dahar Master, Koloth is still spry when he reunites with Kang, Kor, and Dax in "Blood Oath", depicting the group's 2370 reunion to fulfill their blood oaths to kill the albino marauder who killed all the Klingon trio's firstborn sons in 2290. Koloth has no respect for Kor's drunkenness, but his demeanor even affects Odo, and Kor vows to sing of Koloth's valor forever. Koloth dies during the Klingons' and Dax's assault on the albino's compound.

In Koloth's appearance on the original series, he has a very human appearance, suggesting that he is one of the descendants of the victims of the Augment virus. By the time of his appearance on DS9, Koloth's true Klingon visage had been restored.
