A. & J. Inglis

Anthony and John Inglis, founders of A & J Inglis, Ltd, were engineers and shipbuilders in Glasgow, Scotland during the mid-19th century. Their Pointhouse Shipyard was at the confluence of the rivers Clyde and Kelvin. They constructed a wide range of ships including Clyde steamers, paddle steamers and small ocean liners. In wartime they built small warships and in the period after World War II they built a number of whale catchers.

Famous ships built by the firm include the British Royal Yacht HMY "Alexandra" and the paddle steamer "Waverley", now the world's last seagoing paddle steamer. Another Inglis-built paddle steamer, the "Maid of the Loch" serves as a visitor attraction on Loch Lomond.
