KKDM (107.5 FM, "Kiss 107 FM") is a contemporary hit radio station based in Des Moines, Iowa. The station is owned by Clear Channel Communications.

History

KKDM signed on in 1995 as an alternative rock station owned by local businessman, Rich Eychaner, who also owned a local movie rental chain. The station, known as "107 dot 5 KKDM" or just "The Dot", was successful and had a large following among young adults at the time. After Mr. Eychaner sold the station to Clear Channel in 1999, the company swapped the formats of KCCQ and KKDM, resulting in KKDM becoming "Kiss 107" and KCCQ becoming "Channel Q".

Since then KKDM has established themselves as a competent operation in Clear Channel's Des Moines cluster, placing in the top 5 in the market's Arbitron, amidst competition from Adult Top 40 rival KSTZ and an ill-fated decision to flip KDRB to Rhythmic Top 40 (and in the process taking away their listeners).

As of February 2008, KKDM continues to only have three local personalities, "CJ," Greg Chance, and "Sean Cage," the latter joining the staff in the fall of 2006. All other on air positions are filled by personalities from outside the Des Moines area. Mornings are done by (Sean) Valentine, who is recorded the previous day from Los Angeles, California. Randi West records her show from North Carolina.
