Gymnastics springboard

A Springboard in gymnastics is platform set upon one or usually mutiple springs. The springboard propels a gymnist who jumps upon it futher than if they had otherwise jumped off a fixed platform. The springboard is vital part of the vault event, and is commonly used in some routines of other events, such as the balance beam, or uneven bars, to start the event by springing onto the aparatus.

A springboard is used in vaulting and also mounting beam and bars. (Although when using with beam and bars optional.) The spring board gives a gymnast power to complete moves on vault (which is where it is used most)
