Amguri is a town and a town area committee in Sibsagar district in the state of Assam, India.

Geography

Amguri is located at coord|26.58|N|93.07|E|display=inline. [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/3/Amguri.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Amguri] ] It has an average elevation of 74 metres (242 feet).It is a beautiful town situated on the bank of river Jhanji.Amguri is famous for its surrounding tea gardens and oil field.

Amguri has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
