Basudebpur (also spelt as Basudevpur) is a town and a notified area committee in Bhadrak district in the state of Orissa, India.

Geography

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Basudebpur had a population of 29,998. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Basudebpur has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 60% of the males and 40% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Politics

Current MLA from Basudevpur Assembly Constituency is Bijoyshree Routray of BJD, who won the seat in State elections of 2004 and also in 2000 and earlier representing JD in 1995 and in 1990. Other previous MLAs from this seat were Madhu Sadan Panigrahi of INC(I) in 1985, Jagabandhu Das of INC(I) in 1980, Nilmoni Routray of JNP in 1977. [cite web
