Chandpur is one of the most important city in Bijnor district, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Chandpur is 140 km from the capital of New Delhi, 110 km from Meerut, and 38 km from Gajraula on National Highway 24 (Delhi to Lucknow).

Bijnor district is bordered by the districts of Meerut, Muzzafarnagar, Moradabad, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal and Jyotiba Phule Nagar.

Economics

Chandpur is now developing as an industrial town. It has a paper mill, a sugar mill, a snacks factory, and few steel mills,pvc pipe factory and chemical factory.

Agriculture is the main source of income in Chandpur, with sugarcane being the main crop.

The main markets in the city are Mandi Kotla, Dhaali Bazar, Bazaria, Mina Bazar, the Saturday Jama Masjid market, and the Thursday market at Patiyapara.

Demographics

As of 2001, according to the India census, Chandpur had a population of 68,359. Males made up 53% of the population and females 47%. The average literacy rate was 52%, which was lower than the national average of 59.5%, with male literacy at 57% and female literacy at 47%. 16% of the population were under 6 years of age.[1]

Bhuiyar,Vaishya, Agrawal, Tyagi, Saini, Sikhs, jatav, Gurjars,Ahir,Jats and Qureshi dominate in wealth and social status, and the city also has a prosperous Muslim community also.

Transport

Chandpur has railways connections to New Delhi, Lucknow, and Dehradun, with two regular services to New Delhi, the Mussoorie Express and the Garwal Express.

There are direct bus services between New Delhi and Chandpur, with buses connecting to the Anand Vihar bus stand in New Delhi.

Religion

Chandpur is home to the largest mosque in Bijnor district, the Jama Masjid. The mosque has two minarets which are approximately 150 ft in height.Which was built up by Haji khaleel qureshi

Politics

Chandpur plays an active role in Uttar Pradesh politics, being known as "Mini Chahproli", and a number of its MPs have been appointed ministers in the recent past. Politics in Chandpur had always been volatile, with Azad candidates generally winning the local assembly elections.
