Hall Road TMD

Hall Road TMD is a currently disused railway Traction Maintenance Depot situated adjacent to Hall Road railway station. The depot is a facility for storage and servicing of Merseyrail multiple units and rolling stock. It has two shed roads and four additional siding tracks; each road has capacity for three Class 507 or 508 sets (9 carriages).The depot code is HR.

History

Prior to the introduction of Classes 507 and 508, the depot housed Class 502 EMUs. The Class 507 EMUs were far more regularly seen at the depot until its final years of use when the Class 508s began to be used interchangeably with the Wirral Line. It has been disused since the early 1990s with all stock on the Northern Line being serviced at Kirkdale TMD. Some of the tracks to the depot and the local signal were removed during summer 2006.
