The Inspector General of the Bundeswehr (German: "Generalinspekteur der Bundeswehr (GenInspBw)") is the highest-ranking military post in the German Federal Armed Forces. Normally in the rank of a (four-star) General or Admiral, he heads the "Führungsstab der Streitkräfte" (Command Staff of the Armed Forces) and is the direct military advisor to the Federal Minister of Defence and his ministry. His position is roughly equal to that of the American Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the British Chief of the Defence Staff.
The current Inspector General is Wolfgang Schneiderhan.
