province of Varese ,Lombardy ,Italy .It is the birthplace of Gigi Riva, footballer of the team of Cagliari and Italy born here on November 7, 1944. In its vicinity on the banks of Lake Maggiore there is the monastery Santa Caterina del Sasso. It is a tourist resort. The town is part of Agriculture Region No. 3 and the Eastern Hills of Verbano. Moreover, being situated along the shores of the lake, it is considered one of the "Communes of the Floral Coast" (in Italian: "Comuni della costa fiorita").=Places of Interest=Reno, which is a town within the municipality (or "commune", "
comune " in Italian) of Leggiuno, features the monastery Santa Caterina del Sasso Ballaro, which overlooks Lake Maggiore. Local tradition has it that it dates back to the 12th century and was founded by the hermit Alberto Besozzi. Though still in use as a monastery, it serves mainly as a tourist attraction and pilgrimage site.
