Interesting Relationships with Co-stars

*He has appeared in at least two roles with both Akira Ishida and Takehito Koyasu whereby both of their characters are close comrades.
**With Akira, the most famous of their many collaborations is in Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny, with Soichiro as Kira Yamato and Akira as Athrun Zala. A close second will be Saiyuki and its sequels, with Soichiro as Goku and Akira as Hakkai. In The Law of Ueki, Soichiro voices Seiichiro Sano while Akira voices Inumaru Wanko, the God Candidate who gave Sano his powers. Other Anime would be Meine Liebe, Harukanaru Toki no Naka de and Sukisho. In Naruto, Soichiro voices Yashamaru while Akira voices Gaara. Also of note is that in most of these anime, he plays the younger / more childish of the two characters. This is a reference to their ages (Akira is five years Soichiro's senior.) In the game Sengoku Basara 2, they are enemies, since Soichiro voices Sanada Yukimura (who serves Shingen Takeda) while Akira voices Takenaka Hanbei (who serves Toyotomi Hideyoshi). In the PlayStation/PlayStation Portable game Tales of Eternia, Akira plays the main character, Reid Hershel, while Soichiro plays a fellow party member and childhood friend to Reid, Keele Zeibel. In the anime series, Shining Tears X Wind, they voice the two main characters, Soichiro voicing Souma Akizuki while Akira voiced Kaito Kiriya. In Blaue Rosen or Ai wo Utau yori Ore ni Oborero, Soichiro voiced Akira Shiraishi while Akira voiced Ran Nikaidou. In the Prince of Tennis, all though they characters are not close, they both have a role as supporting characters, Hoshi playing Gakuto Mukahi and Akira playing Mizuki Hajime.
**For Takehito, the probably most infamous collaboration is Get Backers, with Soichiro as Fuuchouin Kazuki and Takehito as Kakei Jubei. The others are in the Gundam Seed series, with Takehito as Mu La Flaga; in the game Sengoku Basara, with Soichiro as Sanada Yukimura and Takehito as Sarutobi Sasuke; and Beyblade G-Revolution, both as the main villains of the second half of the anime, with Soichiro as Brooklyn and Takehito as Volkov (Boris in English versions) but not as close, rather the former is the latter's most powerful minion. In Samurai Deeper Kyo, Ishida Akira is the one who voices Sasuke, while Takehito does Tokugawa Ieyasu (in the guise of Hattori Hanzo) and Soichiro does Akira (not based on any Sengoku character).

*He's also a good friend of fellow seiyu Kenichi Suzumura; in the drama CD version of Ouran High School Host Club, Soichiro voices Kenichi's character in the anime version (Hikaru), while Kenichi voices the twin brother of Hikaru, Kaoru. In the Hanayoi Romanesque drama CD, once again they're re-united as twins. Kenichi's as the older twins, Sumire and Soichiro as the unstable younger twins, Tomoe.
**Ironically, in Gundam Seed Destiny, the two voiced bitter enemies as Soichiro voices Kira Yamato, Shinn's "nemesis" in the series. In the Digimon franchise, albeit in different seires and thus continuities, both of their character's Digimon partners (in Kenichi's case, his own character since in his series has the main characters turn into Digimon themselves) experience what is called "Dark Digivolution".
**Both have also voiced characters whose weapons can change in size. (Soichiro as Son Goku in Saiyuki and Kenichi as Lavi in D Grayman).
*He has at least two roles whereby his character is a rival of the character voiced by Tomokazu Seki: In Gundam Seed, Yzak Joule (Seki) was once slashed by Kira Yamato (Hoshi); in the drama CD version of "D.N.Angel", Hoshi voices Daisuke Niwa while Seki voices Satoshi Hiwatari; in "RAVE" ("Rave Master"), Seki is the main protagonist, Haru Glory, while Hoshi is his complete opposite, Lucia Raregroove, even if the latter's anime role seems short and minor (in contrast to the manga).

*Also, he has worked alongside Toshihiko Seki a few times whereby their characters have strong interactions: In Gundam Seed, Kira Yamato (Hoshi) kills Rau le Creuset (Seki), who had long regarded Kira as a main threat; in Saiyuki, Goku (Hoshi) was rescued by Sanzo (Seki), who often abuses him with a paper fan as well; in the drama CD version of D.N.Angel, Hoshi voices Niwa Daisuke while Seki voices his father, Kosuke.

Others

*In addition to playing the hero in "Shining Tears", he also sang the theme songs. Incidentally, the opening theme song is ALSO entitled "Shining Tears".

*He shares the same birthday and blood type as fellow Digimon Savers cast-mate Rie Kugimiya.

*Due to his height, he likes to wear shoes with thick soles.

*Most of his major roles in anime that revolve around battles are usually extremely powerful, even life-threateningly dangerous, whether hero or villain. Examples include Kira Yamato, Lucia Raregroove, Fayt Leingod, Kane Blueriver, Brooklyn, Souichiro Nagi, Ohjiro Mihara, Masaru Daimon (Marcus Daimon), Kazuki Fuuchouin and Son Goku ("Saiyuki") to name a few.

*He has also voiced leading roles in several anime by Sunrise. Examples include Kira Yamato (Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny), Yuki Aiba (Infinite Ryvius), Takuto Kaneshiro/Ryu Soma (Argento Soma) and Kazuma (Scryed). Also, in Gundam Seed, Infinite Ryvius and Argento Soma, his characters have strong relationships with those voiced by Houko Kuwashima.

*He shares several links with seiyu Megumi Ogata.
**Both have voiced the main character in hit mecha anime series. (Soichiro in G.S./G.S.D., Megumi in Evangelion). Also, their female guardians were voiced by Mitsuishi Kotono. The two would later work together in the game Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, where Kira (Soichiro) is told off by Shinji (Megumi) for his comments.
**Both have voiced Sanada Yukimura, a famous general from the Sengoku period. (Soichiro in Sengoku Basara, Megumi in Samurai Deeper Kyo. Also, in Kyo, Soichiro voices a character, Akira.).
**Both have also voiced characters who have strong interactions with characters voiced by fellow seiyuu Akira Ishida.

*In the first Seiyu Awards, he was nominated in two categories: Best Main Character (male, as Keiichi Maebara in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) and Best Supporting Character (male, as Kira Yamato in Gundam Seed Destiny)
