"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" is the second track on the 1986 album "Invisible Touch" by Genesis. It is the second longest song on the album at 8 minutes and 53 seconds (8:53). It peaked at #3 in the US and #18 in the UK as the fourth single from the album.

The single included an edited version of the song (at 4:32) and the first part of "Domino" ("In The Glow of the Night") as the B-side. Some singles that included the full version of the song included the second part of "Domino" ("The Last Domino") as the B-side. Other releases contained the rare track "Paperlate" and a 12" remix of "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight".

The song was performed in concerts in support of "Invisible Touch" between 1986 and 1988. A truncated, somewhat unrecognizable version (which segued into "Invisible Touch") was played on the "We Can't Dance" and "" tours, albeit transposed down a key to account for the deepening of Phil Collins' voice over the years.

Music video

In the music video for the song, the atmosphere is reminiscent of the film "Blade Runner", which was purportedly a source of inspiration for the video.

Meaning

According to Stephen Thomas Erlewine ("Allmusic"), Phil Collins' lyrics tell "a stark, scary tale of scoring dope".

Cultural references

"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" was featured in a 1980s advertising campaign for Michelob beer.Fact|date=January 2008

The song was featured - almost at length - in the Magnum, PI episode "Laura," guest starring Frank Sinatra.
