Michael Jackson (Anglican bishop)

The Right Reverend Dr. Michael Jackson (born 24 May 1956) has been the Church of Ireland Bishop of Clogher since 2002.

His father, Roy Jackson, was an archdeacon.

Jackson was born in Lurgan, and educated at Ballinamallard Primary School, Portora Royal School, Enniskillen and Trinity College, Dublin, before going on to do postgraduate studies in Cambridge.

He married Inez Cooke, a medical doctor who was born in County Fermanagh, and they have one daughter, named Camilla, born "circa" 1991.

Jackson succeeded Brian Hannon as Bishop of Clogher upon being elected by the Church of Ireland House of Bishops at their meeting in Dublin on 21 November 2001. However, he did not take up his appointment for several months, being consecrated at St Patrick's Cathedral, Armagh on 6 March 2002.

Jackson's Roman Catholic counterpart is Joseph Duffy, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Clogher. In 2002, Duffy and Jackson delivered a joint Christmas message.
