Narkhed (or Narkher) is a city and a municipal council in Nagpur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Narkhed had a population of 21,536. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Narkhed has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 67%. In Narkhed, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Narkhed is situated in Nagpur New delhi Railway track. Narkhed is big market for oranges.The town developed with the efforts of Shri Ramesh Balmukundji Gupta who was the President of Nagar Parishad for continuously 28 Years which its self is a record in the Maharashtra State. Ramesh Gupta, his son was also a Member of the Legislative Council of Maharashtra.The 1st orange processing factory in this region was founded by him and the stone laying function was carried over by the then Prime Minister Late Shri Rajeev Ji Gandhi but unfortunately the factory never saw an operational phase. Narkhed Amrawati Railway line is a new project whose stone laying function was presided by The then Prime Minister of India Late Shri P.V.Narsimaraoji. Shri.Mukul Wasnik is sitting MP and also Social Justice minister of Govt.Of India.Many of the youths from Narkhed Placed all over in India & also in abroad for their services. Nagar Parishad Highschool & Nadekar junior science college Narkhed is the place where maximum narkhedian students completed their education and doin engineers and Doctors.
