Steve Lightle (born November 19, 1959 in Kansas) is an American comic book artist, working primarily as a penciller.

Biography

Lightle was interested in comic book art at a young age.Fact|date=October 2007

Lightle's first professional comic book work was in DC's "New Talent Showcase", a series intended to provide work for up-and-coming artist who did not have a regular assignment.

In 1984, Lightle followed Keith Giffen as the regular artist on DC Comics's "Legion of Super-Heroes". Although Lightle's tenure as interior artist (inked by Larry Mahlstedt) was brief, Lightle continued as the regular cover artist until 1988. During Lightle's tenure, he co-created two Legionnaires, Tellus and Quislet, whose unusual appearances contrasted with the humanoid appearances of the other Legionnaires.

Lightle was the first penciler during the 1987 revival of "Doom Patrol", but he left after the first five issue story arc.

Much of Lightle's work has been as a cover artist. Lightle typically both pencils and inks his covers. In 1989 and 1990, Lightle was the regular cover artist for "Classic X-Men" (later retitled "X-Men Classic"). He produced new covers and frontispieces to accompany the reprinted stories.
