Sri Hargobindpur is a city and a municipal council in Gurdaspur district in the Indian state of Punjab.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Sri Hargobindpur had a population of 3993. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Sri Hargobindpur has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 63%. In Sri Hargobindpur, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.Sri Hargobind Pur is a beautiful place settled near Bias River. Beside it is a small place , but politics of this city is much higher than Delhi.This city used to have 4 doors covering all directions which were closed at night to provide safety to its residents and still now one door is visible which is called as Lahori gate (facing Lahore) but this is damaged and cannot be closed anymore.Now this door has also been removed as it broke down.
