Little Mountain, Vancouver

Little Mountain, Vancouver

Little Mountain, elev. 127m, is a hilltop in the central part of the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is best-known as the location of Queen Elizabeth Park and Nat Bailey Stadium, but as a name is also used for the surrounding neighbourhood and, occasionally, in the name of electoral districts (e.g. Vancouver-Little Mountain, which is defunct).

The "mountain" is an ancient volcanic formation which was at one time mined for its granitic basalts. The old quarry on the "mountain" is now an exquisite public garden, Queen Elizabeth Park, which also features the Bloedel Floral Conservatory — a large geodesic domed structure that houses an extensive indoor tropical garden — home to a variety of exotic birds, fish and small mammals.

The commercial area of Little Mountain is centered around Main St. and King Edward Ave. and is host to a rich array of restaurants, coffee shops and bars. Depending on your taste you can sample world-class cuisine from Singapore, Ethiopia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Japan, Philippines and Europe to mention only some of the options. The neighborhood is also well known for its concentration of antique shops.
