Lawrence Edward Smith (December 24, 1948 - July 18, 1999) was an American football defensive end in the National Football League.

High School Career

Smith was a prep All-American at Charlton-Pollard High School in Beaumont, Texas.

College career

He played college football at USC as a defensive tackle. Smith was a member of the original wild bunch. There is a statue of himself and the other four at heritage hall USC

Professional career

Smith played in the National Football League from 1971 until 1976 with the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Oilers, and the Buffalo Bills. He played in Super Bowl VI in 1972 while he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys.

Personal

He died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles in 1999. Tody Smith's brother is actor and former NFL Pro Bowler Bubba Smith. Tody smith was married to Chae Castillo a professional model/actress, a 20 year old daughter Rheo Smith, and a 15 year old son Dakota Castillo-Smith, a 6'8 football player currently a sophomore at Westchester High School in Los Angeles, dedicated to USC
