Qt Extended, formerly known as Qtopia until September 30, 2008, is an application platform for Embedded Linux-based mobile computing devices such as personal digital assistants, mobile phones, and web pads. It is being developed by Qt Software, a subsidiary of Nokia.

Devices and deployment

Models include Sharp Corporation Zaurus line of Linux handhelds, the Sony mylo, the Archos Portable Media Assistant (PMA430) (a multimedia device), the Gamepark Holdings GP2X,
Greenphone (an open phone initiative), Pocket PC, FIC OpenMoko phones: Neo 1973 and FreeRunner. An unofficial hack allows its use on the Archos wifi series of PMPs (604, 605, 705) and also on several Motorola phones like E2, Z6 and A1200.

Qtopia Phone Edition is expected to start shipping on various smartphones, similar to GPE Phone Edition.

Software development

Native applications can be developed and compiled using C++ languages [cite web | url=http://lwn.net/Articles/258453/ | title=Google's phone initiative: Android [LWN.net] . Managed applications can be developed in Java.
