West Coast Main Line railway fromLondon Euston toManchester andScotland goes through the village in a deep cutting, known as Roade cutting. The line dates from 1838 and now carries 125mph electric trains runs. The cutting which is a geologicalSite of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) listed byEnglish Nature (see external link). There was a station at the southern end of the village, at the end of the cutting, until it closed in 1964. A branch, theNorthampton loop leaves the main line just north of the village. There was a campaign in the 1990s to have the station reopened for commuter traffic to London. An option to reopen the station for commuters to London, Milton Keynes and Northampton remains but there are neither current plans nor desire to add additional stops on the line.Demographics

secondary school , Roade School, is the only Sports College in Northamptonshire. The catchment area extends to Grange Park,Blisworth ,Stoke Bruerne and several other villages in the area.References
