Hyattstown, Maryland

Hyattstown, Maryland

Hyattstown is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. Established in 1798 and named after its founder, John Hyatt, this crossroad's town is located on Maryland Route 355 (formally known as "The Pike" or "The Great Road") in upper Montgomery County. In this full-service town, you could have found a place to stay at the local Hyattstown Inn, a one room school-house, a butcher, blacksmith and other commercial venues. Being the main road from Washington, D.C. to points west, it is likely that many well-known historical figures could have passed through or even stayed in Hyattstown. Currently, these historical commercial buildings provide private homes for local residents.
