Gyldendalske Boghandel, Nordisk Forlag A/S, in Denmark usually referred to simply as Gyldendal (OMX|CSE3281|GYLD A, OMXb|CSE3283|GYLD B) is a Danish publishing house. Founded in 1770 by Søren Gyldendal, it is the oldest and largest publishing house in Denmark, offering a wide selection of books including fiction, non-fiction and dictionaries. In 1925, the company underwent a demerger which resulted in the creation of a separate, Norwegian publishing house, Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.

Gyldendal is a public company and its shares are traded on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.

Gyldendal stopped the print version of it encyclopedia in 2006, focusing instead on selling paid subscriptions for its online encyclopedia. By 2008 it had decided that it needed another approach to support that online site.Noam Cohen, [http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/16/weekinreview/16ncohen.html "Start Writing the Eulogies for Print Encyclopedias"] , "New York Times", March 16, 2008]
