SS Drottningholm

SS Drottningholm

SS "Drottningholm" was a swedish transatlantic liner, belonging to the Swedish American Line 1920-1948. Originally named the SS "Virginian", she was built in 1905 by A. Stepens & Sons in Scotland for the Allan Line. In 1912, as "Virginian", she was one of several ships in wireless radio communication with RMS Titanic, giving iceberg warnings, and at one point false wireless messages had "Virginian" towing "Titanic" to Halifax Nova Scotia. During World War I she served as a troop transport ship. 1948-1955 she sailed for the Home Lines, first as the SS "Brasil", and from 1951 as the SS "Homeland".
