Jets Overhead are a Canadian rock band who formed in 2003 and are based out of Victoria, British Columbia. They were nominated for New Group of the Year at the 2007 Juno Awards (Canada's equivalent of the Grammy Awards) after the release of their first full-length album, "Bridges".

Music

Surprisingly, Jets Overhead provide all of their music for free download on their website. It is their view that in the current day and age, with pirating and illegal peer to peer (P2P) networks for downloading music free of charge, it is easier to provide the music in a free form themselves (though the option is given to buy the album at the regular price or make a voluntary donation). They appear to be one of the first bands to have addressed the difficulties of modern day music and what they call the "digital revolution", employing the voluntary purchase and download model a year and a half before Radiohead more famously did it in October 2007 with "In Rainbows".

Discography

Jets Overhead have released two albums, their debut EP named simply "Jets Overhead"(2003), and "Bridges"(2006), the band's first LP or full album. Jets Overhead's first release charted at a respectable #42 on the CMJ music chart in the US, making a considerable mark for their first album. The band's second album, "Bridges", was met with critical acclaim and eventually led the band to its first Juno nomination. Jets Overhead have also released an Instrumental version of "Bridges" which is available on their website, and a digital compilation of b-sides, demos and rarities called "Lost Melodies".
