The Hurricanes are an Edinburgh based band, formed in early 2005 when all members met at Loretto School.

History

The Hurricanes began under the name 'The Beatstalkers' which was soon changed to 'Roulette' before finally settling on 'The Hurricanes'. They played their first gig in June of 2006 at Subway in Edinburgh and have since moved on to play larger venues in different areas of the country.

Progression

In August 2007 the band embarked on their first UK tour playing two shows in London and others around the country to a very warm reception which has seen them expand their increasing profile from Edinburgh. They have had plays on XFM Scotland and BBC Radio Scotland and articles have appeared in The List, Edinburgh Evening News and The Scotsman. In 2007 The Hurricanes played a string of shows most notably supporting Neils Children and Bombay Bicycle Club, and they were voted number 4 on the list of [http://living.scotsman.com/features/Best-unsigned-band.3632119.jp 'Scotland's Best Unsigned Bands'] by The Scotsman.

The Hurricanes are playing Cabaret Voltaire on 25th October 2008, all ages, their first gig since December 2007.
