Button Up Your Overcoat

"Button Up Your Overcoat" is a popular song. The music was written by Ray Henderson, the lyrics by B.G. DeSylva and Lew Brown. The song was published in 1928, and popularized the following year in a recording by vocalist Ruth Etting.

The composition was arranged and recorded by John Serry, Sr. with his emsemble for Dot Records (catalog #DLP-3024) for a 33 RPM vinyl recording entitled "Squeeze Play" in 1956. [http://bsnpubs.com/dot/dotb.html]

The lyrics start, in part:

and go on to list a number of other ways they should take good care of themselves, from "be careful crossing streets" to "when you sass a traffic cop, use diplomacy".
