"Knights of Legend", released by Origin Systems in 1989, is a computer role-playing game. There were supposed to be region and adventure modules to be released starting in 1990, but they were never released.

The game was standard role-play gaming, with classic races of dwarves, elves and humans for player characters making up your party of adventurers, but added a novel race called the "Keldar" which had the power of flight. Quest-givers in various towns directed players to areas of ther larger world map to premade map sites where an item was invariably set to be retrieved to complete the mission.

Each quest site map had a tactical feel to it not seen again until later RPGs and the "Jagged Alliance" series: visibility was limited to what each character "could" see, and this visibility would increase with flying characters.

Additionally, combat incorporated a novel concept for the period - extensive use of fatigue. Each combat round comprised planning thrusts, parrys or jumps, sometimes in anticipation of the opponent's choices which were revealed through the "foresight" attribute.

The game had a quirky save-game feature, wherein games could only be saved by resting at an inn; this often made for very long play sessions.

Compatibility with modern systems

"Knights of Legend" runs reliably in a command prompt in Windows XP.
