Kingston Road, Oxford

Kingston Road, Oxford

Kingston Road is a road in Oxford, England. It continues north from Walton Street and is the main road in Walton Manor.

The houses are terraced, created as part of the generally grander North Oxford estate to the east. When created in Victorian times, the families were more often from the local area than those in the rest of the estate. In 1881, the families were 40.7% artisans.

Connecting streets to the east include Polstead Road (former home of the Lawrence family), St Margaret's Road (leading to St Hugh's College) and Leckford Road (where Bill Clinton resided while studying at Oxford). The road runs north-south in parallel with and to the west of Woodstock Road.

The area was formerly part of the estate of St John's College, Oxford, and the road is named after the village of Kingston Bagpuize, whose church is under the patronage of the college.
